Privacy Policy

Velvet Ember (“we”, “us”) runs a free-to-play social gaming website. We've designed it to need remarkably little of your personal information — there are no payments to process and no marketing machine to feed. This policy explains, without legalese where possible, what little we do handle and how we look after it.

1. Information you give us

Contact messages. If you write to us through the contact form or by email, we receive the details you choose to share — typically your name, email address and the content of your message. We use them solely to reply and to improve the site.

Player profile. Creating a profile stores your display name, email address, a scrambled (hashed) version of your password and your 21+ confirmation locally in your own browser's storage. This information is not transmitted to or held on our servers; clearing your browser data removes it entirely.

2. Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure records basic technical logs: IP address, browser type, device class, pages requested and timestamps. We use these only to keep the site secure, diagnose faults and understand aggregate load. We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site tracking scripts.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use a small set of first-party cookies and browser-storage entries to remember your cookie choice, keep your optional profile working and hold simple preferences. You can view, block or delete these at any time through your browser settings; the site keeps working, though a few conveniences reset.

4. Third-party game content

Games open in embedded windows served by their game studios. When you launch a game, your browser connects to that studio's servers, which may set their own technical cookies and log standard connection data under their own privacy policies. We choose established providers, but their processing is theirs, and we encourage a glance at their policies if you're curious.

5. How long we keep things

Contact correspondence is retained only as long as needed to resolve your query and for a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted. Technical logs rotate automatically on a short cycle. Profile data lives in your browser, under your control, for as long as you keep it.

6. Sharing

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information — ever. We would disclose information only if the law genuinely required it, or to protect the site and its visitors from abuse.

7. Security

The site is served exclusively over HTTPS, passwords in the optional profile feature are stored only as cryptographic hashes on your own device, and we minimise data collection as our primary safeguard: information we never hold can never leak.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, and to complain to a data-protection authority. Email support@playvelvetember.com and we'll help promptly — no forms, no fuss.

9. Age policy

Velvet Ember is intended exclusively for adults aged 21 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 21; if you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and its effective date. Meaningful changes will be flagged clearly on the homepage.
